A spin-off from ‘Shazam!’ (2019) centered around the character’s anti-hero nemesis, Black Adam.
Black Adam (Teth / Theo-Adam) is a fictionalized observation appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Otto Binder & c. C. Created by Beck, the character is one of the archives of the superhero Captain Marvel and one of the nemesis of the Marvel family. Black Adam first appeared as a one-time villain for the first issue of Fockett Comics’ The Marvel Family Comic Book (December 1945). However, after being licensed by DC Comics, Black Adam was revived as a recurring character and then acquired Favet characters and began publishing Shazam / former Captain Marvel family stories under the title Shazam. ! in the 1970s.
When Teth-Adam utters the magic word “Shazam”, he transforms into Mighty Adam, a super-powered being the same powers that Captain Marvel would later be granted; However, Mighty Adam is soon corrupted by the enormity of his powers. Originally, the magician Shazam grants Adam powers derived from the ancient Greco-Roman gods; Later in the series, it was transformed into the gods of ancient Egypt.
Deciding that he should rule the world, the mighty Adam overthrew the Pharaoh and assumed the throne of Egypt. Enraged by this betrayal, Shazam renamed his wrongful champion Black Adam — and unable to revoke the powers he gave Adam — to turn him into the farthest star in the universe.
Black Adam flies back to Earth for the next 5,000 years. By the time he returns it, in 1945, Shazam appointed three new champions to replace him: Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr. and Mary Marvel. Adam’s attempts to take over the world lead to Marvels seeking counseling with Shazam, who tells him about Black Adam. Adam succeeds in tricking Billy and Freddy while they are talking to Shazam. He plans to kill them later. Uncle Marvel releases him, while Mary fights Black Adam, allowing them to transform.
Adam battles with the trio, known as the Marvel family, but since all are equally invincible, the fight goes on without any resolution. Uncle Marvel, a member of the non-powered Marvel family, receives an idea from Shazam and pays him tribute to Teth-Adam, for calling Adam “Shazam”. Aging five thousand years caught up with him in an instant when Captain Marvel knocked him down seconds after he was replaced and he died, becoming a skeleton.
Black Adam wore the same costume as Captain Marvel — except for Black instead of Scarlett and Capless.
